The Penthouse shows a wide range of films, including the METROPOLITIAN OPERA,  we also host NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE productions,  SHAKESPEARE GLOBE THEATRE and host a range of other exciting theatre, art screenings.

NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE

The Penthouse is delighted to present National Theatre Live (NT Live), a successful initiative to film performances from the National's stages to screen in cinemas worldwide. Since its first season, which began in June 2009 with the acclaimed production of Phèdre starring Helen Mirren, over 750,000 people have now experienced the National's work on movie screens worldwide.

Though each live broadcast is filmed in front of a live audience in the theatre, cameras are carefully positioned throughout the auditorium to ensure that cinema audiences get the 'best seat in the house' view of each production. Where these cameras are placed is different for each broadcast, to make sure that cinema audiences enjoy the best possible experience every time.

SHAKESPEARES GLOBE ON SCREEN

Experience the thrill of watching theatre at Shakespeare’s Globe from the comfort of our cinema thanks to Globe on Screen. These productions are shown in their entirety giving you the opportunity to enjoy the world famous Globe Theatre and these critically acclaimed performances.

Shakespeare’s Globe is a reconstruction of the theatre in which Shakespeare worked. With performances of Shakespeare, his contemporaries and new writing, productions run from April to October, playing to over 300,000 people from around the world each summer.
